Ansoo Lake, which remained unnoticed for many years, even by locals, in the stunning northern region of Pakistan, was discovered by Pakistan Air Force pilots in 1993 while flying at a relatively low altitude over the area. The lake is named Ansoo, meaning “teardrop” in Urdu, due to its distinctive teardrop shape, and is situated at an elevation of 4,245 meters above sea level. Similar to Ansoo Lake, Gilgit Baltistan boasts over 6,000 lakes that are yet to be explored. Following Lake Saif ul Malook, it stands as one of the most visited tourist destinations.
